About this event

The performance series centers on the collaboration between Johann Bärenklau and Thomas Weisheit (1973–2024), initiated in 2019 under the moniker Das Stockhausen-Syndrom. Following Weisheit’s death, Bärenklau returned to shared sketches, recordings, and unfinished fragments. Existing material is rearranged, extended, and placed into new contexts, forming the basis of the album „Der Garten ist das, was in der Zukunft liegt“ (“The Garden Is What Lies in the Future”). These works are interwoven with compositions by both artists from different periods, through which the garden becomes a space of memory, continuation, and transformation.

Johann Bärenklau is an artist and musician based in Germany. He completed his studies in Media Art this winter in the class Expanded Cinema of Clemens von Wedemeyer at the Leipzig Academy of Fine Arts. His artistic practice spans sound, installation and graphics. Alongside his solo work, he collaborates with his partner Filip Januchowski as composers for film.
