Index Dex brings his new project BLOW DANK to Otherside for an open-door, in-store session built around the first listen: new music played loud, artist in the room, and a handful of special guests coming through to add to the energy.
Index Dex has been carving out his own lane with a run of recent releases that sit somewhere between playful rap, off-kilter flows and underground character. BLOW DANK feels like the next step in that world: raw, personal, and made to be heard around people, not just streamed through a phone.
He’ll be joined by Bushy, Anolah, Jhavenci, and Pachequin, four names from the wider creative underground, bringing their own mix of music, style and personality into the space.
Born in Louis Trichardt, a small town in South Africa, Index Dex discovered hip-hop at an early age. His first introduction came through his brother, who bought him his first rap album: Mobb Deep. That moment sparked a lifelong connection with music and laid the foundation for his evolution as an artist. Driven by performance, storytelling, and cultural tension, his work moves through themes of sexuality, family structure, violence, identity, and the influence of popular culture and media.
After living in Pretoria and Johannesburg, Index Dex eventually relocated to London, where his sound, ambition, and creative network continued to expand. Over the years, he has collaborated with respected names including producer O.D. Hunte, hitmaker Andy Whitmore, and South African producer DJ Hopestar. He performed alongside UK garage and grime royalty Roll Deep at London’s renowned Lovebox Festival and later graced the stage at the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival in 2015. That momentum became a catalyst for his return to South Africa, where his Venda Tour saw him featured on platforms such as Power FM and performing alongside chart-topping artist A-Reece.
