Ihor Tsymbrovsky

Architect, painter, poet and musician Ihor Tsymbrovsky (* 1962, Lviv) presents a rare live performance featuring selected works from his musical catalogue, spanning more than thirty years of compositions for voice, piano, and organ. The concert draws in part on Come, Angel, Tsymbrovsky’s cult album recorded in a single day in Lviv in 1995. Originally released on cassette in a very limited edition, the work became a hidden landmark of the Ukrainian underground, before being rediscovered and reissued internationally.

Shaped by early choral training, Tsymbrovsky’s distinctive high-register voice moves between minimal song forms, vocal improvisation, and poetry. Situated between musical and literary traditions, several of his pieces are based on writings by Ukrainian poets Mykhailo Semenko (1892–1937) and Mykola Vorobyov (* 1941, Melnykivka). The performance brings forth an enigmatic and particular body of work that continues to resonate across generations, accentuating the deeply emotive register of the musical experience.
